The Truth about Corporate Training

Let's learn from Successful Companies who are doing it right

How often do you organize or attend company training?

How often does that training really speak to you?

Take a moment and think about the last training you really liked. Was it because of the contents, the trainer, or the way the whole training was organized and executed?

Was it because the training had fun elements that made it a lot more interactive and engaging?

Gamification is a buzzword in the L&D industry. Different people describe it differently but

It simply refers to integrating game mechanics into non-game context and experience design to digitally engage and motivate people to achieve their goals.

Not just on a digital platform, it can be used in classroom training as well. By using badges and leadership boards we don’t just add a fun interactive gamification element to training, we are engaging learners in the whole process & making it personal to them.

Let’s look at how successful international companies are gamifying their training

Deloitte:

Deloitte, one of the world’s largest professional services firms, uses a gamified training program called Deloitte Leadership Academy (DLA). DLA is an interactive online learning platform that features more than 150 courses and simulations that teach employees about leadership, management, and professional development.

The program includes points, badges, and leaderboards to incentivize employees to complete the courses and compete with each other. Deloitte has reported increased engagement and completion rates since implementing DLA.

IBM:

IBM, a multinational technology company, has implemented a gamified training program called IBM THINK Academy. The program uses a point system, badges, and leaderboards to incentivize employees to complete the courses and track their progress. IBM has reported increased employee engagement and knowledge retention since implementing THINK Academy.

Also In 2019, the company announced the results of its Digital Badge Pilot Program. A 226% increase in course completion rates was shown after the badge was introduced.

McDonald’s:

McDonald’s, one of the largest fast-food chains in the world, has implemented a gamified training program called McDonald’s Till Training Game. The game simulates real-life scenarios that employees encounter while working at the cash register, such as taking orders, handling money, and dealing with difficult customers.

The game includes levels, rewards, and feedback to motivate employees to improve their performance. McDonald’s has reported increased employee satisfaction and confidence since implementing the game.

There are many more companies out there who have started incorporating gaming elements into their training programs, which has led to a fun and interactive learning experience that resonates with employees and improves their overall performance.

What can we learn from these companies:

Leaderboard

Leaderboards are recognized by experts as one of the most important elements of the gaming experience, as they enhance the timing and meaning of tasks. It shows how employees compare to each other individually or as a team, and encourages friendly competition. Deloitte uses leaderboards in its Digital Leadership Academy to help participants develop their soft-her skills.

Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger hunts are a fun way to include gamification in corporate training. We, personally love organizing scavenger hunts with a twist of our own to make the learners do crazy activities and loosen up for the rest of the training session. Scavenger hunt is a fun team-building activity that really brings the learners together enhancing teamwork and coordination.

Badges

Organizations often use digital badges, but more traditional examples include certificates of completion and years of service badges. As employees complete tasks, they are issued badges that appear below the employee's username on the leaderboard. They boost employee confidence and provide extrinsic motivation to push them to do their best.

Augmented Reality

AR training is a safe and cost-effective solution as it helps organizations reduce the risk of damaging physical equipment or injuring personnel. This is usually done using his second devices, such as a smartphone or glasses. BMW is already using AR headsets for engine assembly training in some factories.
